Public consultation on the Permanent Disability Evaluation Schedule — Range of Motion Method and Disabilities of the Spine
Following concerns raised by stakeholders about the range of motion (ROM) method for measuring permanent disabilities involving the spine, a systematic review on the appropriateness of the ROM method and other diagnostic approaches was undertaken. Overall, the systematic review found that all assessment methods were weak, and that there was no preference for one instrument over another. This consultation is to determine whether this issue should remain on the current workplan.
Our Policy, Regulation and Research Department is releasing a discussion paper on the Permanent Disability Evaluation Schedule — Range of Motion Method and Disabilities of the Spine, for public consultation.
