MARP Assessment Service

When a person has an injury at work, we may refer them to our network of Medical and Return-to-Work Planning (MARP) Assessment service providers. This network is made up of providers who have long-term contracts with us. These contracts come up for bidding periodically.

New report templates available

On May 1, 2023, we updated our report templates and reference manual for this program to reflect abilities-focused language, including new discharge status categories.

Please use the updated templates available in the Resources section below. To learn more, read the bulletin on abilities-focused language.

Overview of services

We refer injured workers to our MARP Assessment program when we require diagnostic clarification of their musculoskeletal injury. Workers may also be assessed when we require treatment and return-to-work recommendations.

Assessments are completed by physicians who have a diploma in sports medicine or a specialty in occupational medicine.

The MARP program includes the following four services:

  1. MARP assessment
This service includes patient history, medical examination, and psychosocial screening.
  2. MARP subsequent visits
This service may include review of test results or procedures following an initial assessment or re-assessment, and return-to-work updates.
  3. MARP re-assessment
This service applies to workers who have been discharged from the program, but have not fully recovered and require another full assessment.
  4. Injections
This service includes bursa, tendon sheath, periarticular, or joint injections. These can be administered by a MARP physician as part of any MARP services, if clinically indicated.

Through Bid Opportunities, you can also sign up for automatic notifications whenever one of these bids is posted.

Submitting reports and invoices

All the information you need to complete our required paperwork is available in the contract documents you sign with us.
