Restarting services by mail
As Canada Post has restarted their operations and began accepting new mail on Thursday, December 19, WorkSafeBC has also resumed sending our usual correspondence by mail.
Update: Any cheques not picked up by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 3, will be sent by mail. This includes cheques that have been held at one of our locations as well as cheques held at Service BC.
For workers who receive payments by cheque:
- For cheque payments issued through December 17, we have contacted individuals by phone or email if a cheque or document was available to pick up. Any cheques or documents not picked up by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 3, will be sent by Canada Post.
- For cheque payments issued December 18 onward, we are sending cheques by Canada Post.
- If you receive a cheque that was previously stuck in the mail and have since received the payment as an electronic funds transfer (EFT), please shred the cheque to ensure the security of your personal information.
For providers who receive payments by cheque:
- We are sending all cheques that are at our offices for providers by Canada Post, unless alternative arrangements are in place.
For employers who receive payments by cheque:
- We are sending all cheques that are at our offices for employers by Canada Post, unless alternative arrangements are in place.
Letters and correspondence
We have resumed sending hard copies of letters, documents, and correspondence through Canada Post, including documents that were held in our mailroom during the postal disruption. For some documents, you may have received an electronic version via online services in place of a mailed copy.
Employers can also view much of their insurance related correspondence through the letters and documents section of their online services account.
Online options provide fastest service
Our direct deposit program continues to be the fastest way for you to receive payments and is available to anyone with a Canadian bank account. We also encourage employers to use our online services for faster and easier payroll reporting and payments, particularly as year-end payroll reporting deadlines near.
