The classification policies in the Assessment Manual guide how WorkSafeBC assigns firms to a classification unit for the purpose of assessment. Each classification unit represents an industry a firm operates in and determines the base rate at which the firm pays assessment premiums.

The Policy and Regulation Division prepared a discussion paper and draft policies on the classification of firms in the Assessment Manual, for stakeholder review and comment.
