On May 28, 2014, the Board of Directors approved:

• to rescind policy dealing with firefighters and heart injury in the Rehabilitation Services & Claims Manual, Volume II ("RS&CM"); and
• to remove a cross-reference of that policy in the RS&CM.

The policy changes were made to ensure consistency with changes to the Workers Compensation Act under Bill 17, which provides a presumption in favour of coverage for firefighters and heart disease and heart injury.

The policy changes came into effect on May 29, 2014.
