On November 28, 2012, the BOD approved a new policy, Item AP1-2-4, Extended Coverage for Motion Picture or Television Productions, of the Assessment Manual.

Once this policy comes into effect, a motion picture or television production firm may apply to WorkSafeBC to have all individuals engaged to provide services on a motion picture or television production, who are not otherwise entitled to receive workers' compensation benefits, declared workers of the motion picture or television production firm.

This policy was effective January 1, 2013 and applies to all applications for extended coverage for motion picture or television productions made on or after January 1, 2013.
