The Policy, Regulation and Research Department (PRRD) presented a discussion paper and BOD-approved policies to the Policy and Practice Consultative Committee, posted them on WorkSafeBC’s website, and distributed the website link directly to over 10,000 subscribers of WorkSafeBC’s Regulation, Guideline and Policy Updates email distribution list, for consultation and feedback. Notice of the consultation was also posted to WorkSafeBC’s official Twitter account on a rotating basis between January 8, 2021 and April 16, 2021.

Generally, stakeholders supported the BOD-approved policies, though some submitted policy should include additional guidance.

The PRRD received 11 submissions: 6 from a worker perspective, 4 from an employer perspective, and 1 from another perspective. This document is a reproduction of the stakeholder comments.

At its July 2021 meeting, the Board of Directors opted to maintain the status quo and make no further changes to policy: policy changes approved on November 18, 2020 and effective January 1, 2021 continue to be applicable.
