POA Decision – 1998/07/16-06 – Continuity of Income Benefits
Continuity of income benefits (Code R) are paid to injured workers who are experiencing a loss of income while waiting for the WCB to assess and implement their permanent pension. The Panel amended the policy on continuity of income benefits to clarify the rate at which these benefits are paid and the circumstances in which the rate can be changed. This amendment was effective September 1996.The Panel also amended the same policy to make continuity of income benefits available to workers who have returned to work while awaiting their pension assessment and to workers whose existing pensions are being reassessed. In both situations, to qualify for these benefits, the worker must be experiencing a reduction in income related to the compensable disability. These amendments were effective July 16, 1998.
