The paper discussed a proposal to create six new assessment classification units to distinguish between different fisheries (by gear type). This would allow the WCB to consider modifying assessment rates for different fisheries, based on their relative claim cost averages. It also would allow the Prevention Division to identify high risk, high cost fisheries.
