The Policy & Regulation Development Bureau developed a discussion paper regarding "Cost Relief for Back Injury Claims".

In response to recommendations contained in the final report of the Core Services Review of the Workers' Compensation Board - Major Law and Policy Issues, the Administration proposed that Board policy be amended to provide automatic cost relief for back injury claims. This would be achieved by excluding claims costs associated with back injuries from an employer's experience rating.
