Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in Hospital Emergency Room Personnel

This project was an exploration of the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in emergency room (ER) staff. The goal was to identify the workplace characteristics that contribute to traumatic stress, and examine ways to prevent and treat PTSD in health care workers

This project examined PTSD and associated symptoms in ER workers, including prevalence, contributing workplace characteristics, and ways to improve prevention and treatment. A questionnaire was completed by 107 ER staff from 3 Vancouver hospitals, and interviews were conducted with a smaller sample of participants
