WorkSafeBC is an independent statutory agency that serves more than 2.7 million workers and close to 280,000 registered employers throughout B.C. It is funded by insurance premiums paid by employers and by investment returns. In administering the Workers Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC remains separate and distinct from the Government of B.C., but is accountable to the public through the Government, which is responsible for protecting and maintaining the overall well-being of the workers’ compensation system.
