Tower cranes
Cranes are among the largest pieces of equipment used on a worksite. In B.C., crane operators must have certification that's acceptable to WorkSafeBC in order to operate cranes in any of the three general crane categories (boom trucks, mobile cranes, and tower cranes).
New tower crane requirements in effect October 1, 2024
Amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation relating to tower cranes took effect on October 1, 2024. These include new requirements to submit a notice of project (NOP) for crane activity and to ensure a qualified supervisor is in place.
