2020 Day of Mourning (cancelled)

Date: April 28, 2020 Time: 10:45AM - 11:45AM Location: Jack Poole Plaza, Vancouver, BC (Map it)

Across Canada, April 28 has been designated the Day of Mourning.

Workers, families, employers, and communities across the province come together each year to remember those who have lost their lives on the job, and to renew our commitment to creating healthy and safe workplaces.

Please note that due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Vancouver Day of Mourning ceremony at Jack Pool Plaza. We will be sharing a commemorative video to recognize the day.

Some other ways to commemorate the day include:

  • Sending a message to staff re-enforcing your commitment to a healthy and safe workplace and sharing the link to the commemorative video
  • Observing a moment of silence on April 28
  • Sharing a message on social media
  • Ordering a wreath for your office or worksite

Please visit dayofmourning.bc.ca to watch and share the commemorative video, to make a dedication in honour of a fallen worker, and to order complimentary decals and posters.
