New bulletin highlights fore-aft rollover hazard while using side-boom pipelayers on slopes

Published on: October 17, 2022

Side-boom pipelayers are used to lift and move pipes for oil and gas operations. While side-to-side rollovers are a well-known hazard with these machines, fore-aft rollovers can also occur when operating on slopes.

Our new bulletin, Fore-aft rollover hazard while using side-boom pipelayers on slopes, outlines safe work practices for operating side-boom pipelayers on slopes. These practices include assessing slope conditions, obtaining modified load charts, and avoiding load swing.

As an employer, you can reduce the risk of fore-aft rollovers by communicating and controlling the risks.
