Not just a prescription pad: A multimodal approach to chronic non-cancer pain management

Physicians, nurse practitioners, and other allied health care providers are invited to participate in a free two-part accredited virtual workshop to learn more about current best practices in the treatment of chronic non-cancer pain.

This two-part virtual event will take place over the following dates and cover the following topics:

Part 1: Monday, March 28, 6:30 – 8:15 p.m. PT — Overview of pain, non-pharmacological approaches, alternatives to opioids, and a simple case study

Part 2: Thursday, April 7, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. PT — Integrating pharmacological and non-pharmacological solutions, tapering, and a complex case study

The webinars are designed to help you:

  • Develop confidence in having difficult conversations related to broadening pain education and treatment options beyond the prescription pad
  • Apply key pharmacological principles including tapering of opioids, initiating substitution therapy, and medication exit strategies
  • Identify community and regional resources and supports, including WorkSafeBC programs

This session is accredited by UBC CPD for up to 3.25 Mainpro+/ MOC Section 1 Group Learning credits and aligns with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.’s Standards for the safe prescribing of opioids.
