For instructional project lead Maura, there is always something new to learn and experience within her role.

Her day can include everything from arranging course logistics and problem solving, to collaborating with the learning and development team, working with clients, and doing instructional design work. She enjoys the variety and believes she makes a difference by contributing to our organization’s culture of safety and caring by helping our employees acquire the skills and knowledge to educate the workers and employers of B.C.

With over 20 years of experience in learning and development, most recently as a consultant, Maura joined WorkSafeBC because she was looking for a more collaborative environment with opportunities for learning and career growth.

“The learning and development team is fantastic and very supportive, and there’s always somebody to discuss ideas with,” Maura says. “On top of that, I appreciate the opportunity to hone my own skills and expand my knowledge. In this role, there’s always something new to learn and experience.”

Being part of an organization with robust training opportunities allows her to share knowledge with others, as well as expand her own knowledge, which is something she appreciates and values. “Our training opportunities are comprehensive and exceed what I’ve experienced at other organizations.”

Our learning and development team regularly evaluates our courses and is launching new training this year. The team develops and delivers learner-focused and performance-based courses, using educational best practices and new and emerging technology.
