Flushable toilets required at construction sites starting October 1
The Government of B.C. has announced that changes to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation relating to flushable toilets on construction sites come into effect on October 1, 2024. Under these requirements, employers at construction sites with 25 or more workers must provide flush toilets, handwashing facilities, and clean bathrooms.
While the changes come into effect on Oct. 1, 2024, WorkSafeBC will continue to work with construction companies in the coming months to ensure they are aware of the changes and understand the requirements. This approach will allow time for employers to source the required facilities.
For more information about the changes, please refer to the Government of B.C.’s news release.
