Board of Directors’ decisions on amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation

The Board of Directors of WorkSafeBC has considered and approved amendments to Part 26, Forestry Operations, with consequential amendments to Part 1, Definitions, and Part 4, General Conditions in December 2007.

These amendments will come into effect May 1, 2008 with the exception of section 26.69(6).

Section 26.69(6) requires binder removal stations to be certified by a professional engineer. This section, as set out below, will come into effect January 1, 2009.

(6) A binder removal station must not be used unless it is certified by a professional engineer as capable of performing its intended function.

The amendments referenced above were all taken to public hearings in June 2007. Stakeholder feedback received during the public hearing process is available for review.
