Policy decision finalized at the September 2008 WorkSafeBC Board of Directors meeting

Coverage for Apprentices Attending Technical Training at Private Training Institutions
On September 10, 2008, the Board of Directors approved a resolution providing that individuals registered as apprentices with the Industry Training Authority (“ITA”), attending ITA-approved apprenticeship technical training at ITA-designated private training institutions have coverage as workers of the Province under section 3(6) of the Workers Compensation Act.
The resolution is effective October 1, 2008.
