The Workers Compensation Act provides that permanent disability benefits continue until age 65. The Act also provides that where WorkSafeBC is satisfied a worker would retire after reaching age 65, permanent disability benefits are payable to the date the worker would retire, as determined by WorkSafeBC.
At issue is whether the policy should be amended to clarify the following:
WorkSafeBC’s governing body, the Board of Directors, has approved this issue for stakeholder consultation. The Policy and Regulation Division has prepared a discussion paper and draft policies for stakeholder review and comment.
Stakeholders are invited to review the discussion paper and proposed policies, and provide feedback by November 23, 2012.

WorkSafeBC’s governing body, the Board of Directors, will consider stakeholder feedback before it adopts any amendments to the current policies.
