When workers who are paid for both their labour and the supply and operation of equipment are injured, WorkSafeBC (the Workers' Compensation Board) must compensate them based on the labour portion of their contract(s). The central issue of this consultation is how to equitably determine the cost of supplying equipment in order to calculate a worker's average earnings. The Policy and Research Division has developed a discussion paper on Average Earnings Determinations for Workers Deducting Equipment Expenses from Gross Income (PDF 292kb) for consideration by stakeholders.
Stakeholders are invited to review the discussion paper, options, and
draft policy, and provide feedback until June 24, 2005. Comments
