Penalties: WorkSafe Magazine July/August
A list of recent administrative penalties imposed on workers by WorkSafeBC is published in each issue of WorkSafe Magazine. The list of penalties, by industry sector, includes names, penalty amounts, and descriptions and locations of the violations.
The July/August issue included a list of 54 penalties. Of note:
- WorkSafeBC imposed 29 penalties, totalling over $100,000, to construction employers for failing to ensure workers used the required fall protection.
- The largest penalty of $125,277 was issued to Francesco Aquilini, Roberto Aquilini & Elisa Aquilini’s company the Golden Eagle Ranch for a repeated violation for failing to safely maintain the farm vehicle used to transport workers.
- A penalty for a fatality against a Chemainus kayak company was issued for a worker fatality. See the lessons learned video explaining the incident.
