Richmond, B.C., June 23, 2008— Upgrades to WorkSafeBC’s online clearance letter application have gone live. Starting today, you will notice significant improvements to the tool, which lets you generate and print clearance letters when you hire subcontractors in just a few clicks.
A clearance letter indicates whether the business, contractor, or subcontractor you plan to hire is registered with WorkSafeBC, and paying premiums as required. Without this information, you could be liable for insurance premiums owing in connection with the work or service being performed on your behalf.
To simplify the process of obtaining a clearance letter, and help you better understand what information you’re required to submit in order to obtain a letter, the four steps involved are now presented right up front, before the process begins:
Step 1: Search for firms or contractor
Step 2: View and confirm results
Step 3: Who is the requestor or addressee of the clearance letter?
Step 4: Create and print your clearance letter
The flow of the application has also been made more intuitive, and a sample letter has been provided to give you a visual aid you can use to see exactly what information you must submit in order to complete the process.
