Richmond, B.C., June 2, 2008—WorkSafeBC and Classic Rock 101 partner to raise awareness about construction safety.
This June, WorkSafeBC is partnering with Classic Rock 101 to raise awareness about construction-worker safety in B.C. ― the Bro Jake way. The motto of the Rule #101 campaign is: “I’m the Bro, you’re the pro.”
Some of the most common workplace injuries within the construction industry occur when workers fall from heights. The Rule #101 campaign aims to spread the message about this hazard to Rock 101 listeners through radio ads, and by directing listeners to watch safety videos from the “You’re a Pro” and “Setting the Standards for Safety” collections.
But the campaign, which runs June 2-29, 2008, is more than just a message about safety. Listeners will be invited to submit their best construction-site safety initiatives ― actual ideas and processes that have been successfully implemented at real construction sites throughout B.C. to make them safer for workers.
Everyone who makes a submission through the Rock 101 website has a chance to win great prizes, which will be drawn by Rock 101 personality Bro Jake (The Bro) throughout the month.
Whenever The Bro chooses a winner, he and representatives from Rock 101 and WorkSafeBC will visit the winner’s worksite for an impromptu inspection of the submitted safety initiative. These visits will also include music, prizes, the Classic Rock 101 girls, and a lunch break the site’s crew will likely never forget.
The safety initiatives that best support the Rule #101 campaign and a safe work environment will be posted online, where Rock 101 Club members can vote for their favourite in exchange for Rock 101 Club points. The initiative with the most votes will be deemed “Bro Jake Certified,” and its submitter will win the grand prize.
