Forestry fatality investigation complete

September 12, 2006 — WorkSafeBC has completed the investigation into a forestry fatality that took place in November, 2005. The fatally injured worker was a manual tree faller and his death was one of more than 40 in the forest sector last year. This included deaths in Wood and Paper Mills, Forestry, Log Towing and Log Hauling.

WorkSafeBC investigations are subject to Protection of Privacy and Freedom of Information legislation; where there has been significant public interest, WorkSafeBC will post the (severed) investigation on its public web site.

The purpose of an investigation is to determine cause and identify lessons learned in order to prevent a similar injury or fatality in the future.
