magazine
A structure used for the unattended storage of either detonators
or explosives, and which meets the regulations and standards of the Explosives
Act (Canada).
mainline
The cable used to yard logs.
maintenance
Work performed to keep machinery or equipment in a safe operating
condition, including installing, repairing, cleaning, lubricating and the clearing
of obstructions to the normal flow of material.
manufactured article
An article that is formed to a specific shape or design during
manufacture, the intended use of which, when in that form, is dependent in whole
or in part on its shape or design, and that, under normal conditions of use,
will not release or otherwise cause a person to be exposed to a controlled product.
master
The purposes of sections sections 24.69 to 24.143, means the
person in overall command of a fishing vessel.
Material Safety Data Sheet or MSDS
A document disclosing the information referred to in section
13(a)(i) to (v) of the Hazardous Products Act (Canada) and section 12(1) to
(3) of the Controlled Products Regulations (Canada).
medical advisor
Physicians are employed by the WCB to advise the compensation staff about medical issues related to claims. Medical advisors also carry out physical assessments of claimants, site assessments as well as educational and networking functions between the WCB and community physicians.
medical recompression
Treatment of a diver in a compressed air environment, in a
recompression chamber, in accordance with established practice or medical direction,
to alleviate symptoms resulting from a previous decompression.
mimic display
A symbolic representation of the configuration and status
of all or part of a power system, complete with device designations.
miscellaneous material hoist
A permanently installed material hoist not described elsewhere
in this Regulation and not governed by the Elevating Devices Safety Act.
misfire (mishole)
A charge or part of a charge which, on initiation, failed
to completely detonate or function, a dangerous condition.
mixed gas
A mixture of breathable gases other than atmospheric air.
mobile equipment
A wheeled or tracked vehicle which is engine or motor powered,
together with attached or towed equipment, but not a vehicle operated on fixed
rails or tracks.
mobile yarder
A logging machine mounted on wheels, tracks or skids, incorporating
a vertical or inclined spar, tower or boom used in a skyline, slackline, modified
slackline, high lead, or grapple overhead cable logging system.
moderate hazard atmosphere
An atmosphere that is not clean respirable air but is not
likely to impair the ability of the worker to escape unaided from a confined
space, in the event of a failure of the ventilation system or respirator.
moderate risk work activity
Work activity involving the handling of asbestos-containing
material or working in proximity to friable asbestos-containing material, not
otherwise classified as low or high risk work activities.
molly hogan
A single strand of wire rope rolled into a circle with 6 complete
wraps that may be used as a temporary method of connecting the eye splices of
2 lines of the same size or in pin shackles to replace the cotter pin.
MTC
A mobile treatment centre meeting the requirements of section
33.33.
multi-class firms
Firms that have more than one WCB classification.
