Field Investigations Department

The Field Investigations Department is the key component of WorkSafeBC's corporate fraud strategy. The fraud strategy, supported by employer and worker stakeholders, is aimed at ensuring the appropriate processes are in place to minimize the risk of fraud from all parties that form part of the business WorkSafeBC conducts. This includes workers, employers, health care providers, suppliers, and individuals employed by WorkSafeBC.

Objectives and activities

The objectives of the Field Investigations Department are to protect WorkSafeBC assets by limiting exposure to fraud and to recover WorkSafeBC assets that have been or are in the process of being compromised.

Activities include:

  • Monitoring the environment and data for potential fraud vulnerability
  • Identifying and investigating instances of suspected fraud
  • Promoting enhanced fraud awareness
  • Pursuing the recovery of funds as a result of fraudulent activity
