Benefits
of rehabilitation
We
work closely with employers to help bring injured workers back to the workplace.
The benefits include:
- Sustaining productivity
- Increasing employee morale
- Enhancing labour relations
- Retaining valued employees
- Reducing training and other costs
- Reducing turn-over
- Maintaining your image as a good corporate citizen
Vocational rehabilitation will not cost you more money.
In fact, it will save you money: for every one dollar spent on rehabilitation,
a minimum of three dollars is saved in overall costs.
Employers will:
- Reduce the wage-loss benefits paid to the employee
- Reduce the time and costs of recruiting and training a replacement
employee
If you are unable to accommodate your employee within your company, you
should be aware that additional costs may include:
- WorkSafeBC assessment costs from preparing
the worker for a new job with a new company
- Costs associated with a loss in earnings and other pensions
- Comprehensive vocational rehabilitation retraining program costs
- Reduced employee morale and associated productivity costs
The longer the worker is out of the workforce, the higher these costs
become.
